Alan P. Milby
Director of Pre-Construction
Alan Milby has 10 years in the mechanical contracting business. He has been an original member of the MIINC organization since graduating from the University of Texas in 1998 with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering. He is also E.I.T. certified. Milby’s experience in the mechanical industry includes design, conceptual design, budget development, estimating and project management of projects ranging in value from $2,000 to $6 million. His responsibilities include labor management, sub-contractor coordination, material/equipment procurement, business development, contract negotiations, estimating changes, scheduling, billings/collections and design/build assistance. He is a member of ASHRAE.
Richard E. Determan
P.E., Vice President Pre-Construction
Dick Determan (retired), has 39 years in the mechanical contracting business, with expertise in pre-construction budgeting and estimating services using preliminary documents (conceptual estimating), conceptual design, design-build and maintaining budgets through completion of projects. Career highlights include joining Sam P Wallace Company in 1974 as a design construction engineer; 1979 Continental Mechanical Corporation as vice president – design cost control; 1985 the EMDE Companies as marketing and design development; 1988 MMR/Wallace Group as cice president – design cost control; 1990 Natkin & Company as assistant vice president – design cost manager; 1995 Encompass Mechanical as vice president – pre-construction services; and in 2002 Way Engineering, Ltd. as vice president – pre-construction services. Determan holds both a B.S. in mechanical engineering and an M.S. in aerospace engineering. He is also a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas.
Steven C. Hopkins
Steve Hopkins has 22 years in the mechanical contracting business. Steve was one of the original employees of Mechanical Interiors, Inc. (MIINC). He had several roles from head draftsman to estimator to senior estimator during 15 years as a MIINC employee. Hopkins was chief estimator over the special projects group at Encompass for two years and chief estimator at Way Engineering in their Dallas branch office from February 2003 through June 2004. During 17 years in the contracting business, he has learned and operated various computer software programs for plumbing, piping and sheet metal; he also maintains the company database and labor rates and compiles all costs associated with each bid.
Design Modeling Manager (BIM)
Hal Clarridge has 28 years in the mechanical contracting business, and has worked for several major mechanical contractors during his career. He began with the original MIINC in 1992 as a HVAC field mechanic before joining MIINC’s detailing department. He was responsible for detailing small interior to large commercial mechanical systems. His work with a verity of computer operating systems and knowledge of computer networks lead him to take the role as MIINC’s / Encompass Mechanical Services local IT Manager, where he was responsible for setting up, maintaining and running MIINC’s IT department. Clarridge joined MIINC, L.P. in January 2005 as senior detailer and IT coordinator. He has a vast knowledge of design software and building information modeling (BIM).
